master.At that time,in Tcode:MM01,first screen we need to
mention,(material type)it show the nature of material
ex:-engineering product,finished products,semifinished
product,etc.,

To be precise Material type is a acustomising setting where
we control Field's and View's of Material master Record.
Just as Account group controll's field's and view's of
customer master record.

Material Type controls the various views and fields of the
material master....and this also has relation to SD..

For Example if..a company is producing some product and not
willing to sale then...we can control the Sales views for
that material type,...and hence need not to maintain all
the sales related data for that material...

because system knows what type of mat.or nature of mat. if
