HI ,
This is very tricky answer .

YES: BW Can run without SAP R/3 . As independant Server .
but there is nologic on using BW without SAP R/3 as BW is
reporting Tool and BW fetch data form the R/3 to get actull
reports . so logically there is no point of using BW w/ot
R/3

Techincially speaking, we can have BW system with our r/3
implementation. As BW acts as a repository, it can be
connected to any external legacy or file system, exracts
data and stores in its repository to serve reporting needs.

your are right; but bw itself is a r/3 system;
i dont understand what is he trying to ask in the question.

BW is a reporting tool i agree but again it could be sap r3
system or legacy bw system.
