Can BW run without a SAP R/3 implementation?

Answer Posted / patchipala

Sorry for the typo in the previous response.

Techincially speaking, we can have BW system without r/3
implementation. As BW acts as a repository, it can be
connected to any external legacy or file system, exracts
data and stores in its repository to serve reporting needs.

Yes, we can have BW without R/3. The source system(s) for
BW can be anything, there is no complusion on BW to use R/3
as one of the source.
