This is very tricky answer .

YES: BW Can run without SAP R/3 . As independant Server .
but there is nologic on using BW without SAP R/3 as BW is
reporting Tool and BW fetch data form the R/3 to get actull
reports . so logically there is no point of using BW w/ot
R/3
