Answer / anil ramnani
Caffeine is used because it gives maxima at 272 and 205 nm and minima at 245 nm Wavelength, and it's preparation is stable at room temperature, and it is soluble in water and easily available.

Answer / kishanpal singh, fare labs pvt
1. caffeine easily available in market.
2. In general we all use caffeine as a standard for
calibration of HPLC specially for (Calibration of Wave
Length Accuracy) since it will scan the whole of the UV
range i.e It gives a multiwavelength response like
first maxima at 205 nm
second maxima at 273 nm &
minima at 245nm
3. It is very stable, we can use a long time for analysis
i.e. it is not degradable
4. In this case we can use Erbium Perchlorate which will
scan the whole range(200 nm to 600 nm).It is stable and
little costly but not easily available in market.

Answer / prashant ghadi
1)Caffiene is primary standard
2)It is highly stable. also stable in solution form
3)It is polar compound. retention time is smaller
4)Easily available in the market, cheap
5)It has 2 maximas and 1 minima.

Answer / m . naga swamy.
It is the primary standard and recommended by the
pharmacopoeia. It is easily soluble in water. It shows
complete absorbance at multiwavelength

caffeiene having different wavelents it having 2 maximas
and 1 minima.
1st maxima is 205nm
2nd maxima is 273nm
minima is 245nm
and it is primary reference standard and also suggested in
pharmacopiea. It is easily soluble in water. It shows
complete absorbance at multiwavelength
