why KF factor is between 4.5 to 7.5 mg/ml ? why ? why sometime pyridine is used in analysis like i..

Answer / suresh kumar

If we use methanol as a medium acetone will react with
methanol and side reaction takes place to give water
molecule as a biproduct hense the end point cannot be
attained, thats why we use pyridene or 2- propanol as a
medium in the case of determination of water content of
acetone by kf reagent.

1 ml of kf reagent = 5.0 mg water approx therefore kf
factor limit is 4.5 to 7.5 mg/ml

Answer / pratibha

Because acetone react with methanol and forms water as a side reaction so no end point we get. so for Acetone pyridine or other base we use.

Answer / nagulmeera

Acetone is highly reactive, so it reacts with methanol to give side products as water and ketals, our aim is to find water content but here excess water is generated so the titre value is not tru

Answer / anil suryawanshi

in the KF titration the Iodine react with water so the theoretical factor is 7.. Iodine mw=126.9/18 of water =7 so we get factor practically around 5

Answer / kevan bhalodiya

kf factor limite cant stable cause we use different type of reagent and thats strength are not same.
factor show only strendth of reagent.
so,factor limite cant consider.
