What is Difference Between Induction Motor & Servo Motor..

Answer / vikrant sharma hamirpur 987893

Induction motor is a kind of motor which works on the
phenomenon of ELECTROMAGNETIC INDUCTION .there are rotar
and stator in it they rotate and it form the current and
run the motor.
SERVOMOTOR is a motor that works on the principle of linear
control system and alsoon the closed loop system.they are
of two types
1.A.C SERVOMOTOR
2.D.C. SERVOMOTOR
it also need the refrence voltage to run the mechaine

What is Difference Between Induction Motor & Servo Motor..

Answer / vedvart sharma

Servo motors is used to control speed systems. It varies the field current applied to the generator which in turn controls the speed of the motor connected. Induction motor will work on synchronous speed.
Servo motor-closed loop system where as induction motor is an open loop system.
An induction motor has high inertia and servo motor has a very low inertia. Hence servo motors are used in applications where instant and accurate positioning of load is reqd.
Speed is constant in servo motor.
As in induction motor stator is formed by coils while in servo motor stator is formed with permanent magnet. So in induction motor very high inertia is there while in servo inertia is low. Due to that servo is very easy to stop at instant. So it is used in position control while in application where at instant position stop is not required induction motor is used.
The motors are selected according to the torque requirement and based on the application, for normal industrial application Induction motors are economical. For some application which requires high torque, positioning and breaking control, we can use servo motor. Servo needs and drive package and requires lengthy program.
Servo motor is actual normal ac induction motor with added feature as 1) Low inertia rotor 2) high torque break and 3) inbuilt encoder for speed and position feedback. All this components combine work with servo drive.
Induction motor has a high inertia whereas servo motor has a low inertia due to we stop it at any instant. Servo motor has a high starting torque and has a capability to break that torque at any instant, whereas induction motor have a low starting torque and we cannot stop it any exact position due to high inertia. Accuracy of servo motor is more than induction motor but it is expensive. Generally servo motor is to be use where we required a high starting torque with small displacement. If the servo motor connect with Servo drive then we needs a 24 volt dc supply to execute or drive.
The Only Difference between servo motor and Induction motor is that servo motor and drive makes a fully closed loop because of built in encoder with servo motor, but we can make a closed loop system with induction motor by putting an external encoder still there is one addition with servo motor is that servo motor have permanent magnets which gives better accuracy than simple induction motor
Servo motor has two rotations which are not possible in Induction motor

What is Difference Between Induction Motor & Servo Motor..

Answer / venugopal

SERVO MOTORS WAS EITHER AC OR DC MOTORS WITH AN ENCODERS ATTACHED SO THAT MOTORS POSITION CONTROL SPEED CONTROL COULD BE ACHIEVER.THEN THE INDUCTION MOTORS AC POWERED THEN THE MOTORS ROTATED CONTINUOUSLY THEN THE MOTOR MOST OFTEN BELT ,SCREW AND CONVEYANCE ACHIVED

What is Difference Between Induction Motor & Servo Motor..

Answer / m.suresh

1.Induction motor stator formed with coil. But servo motor
stator formed with permanent magnet.
2.servo motor having high torque with low speed. But
induction motor having low starting torque.
3.servo motor got low inertia so we can break the servo
motor shaft running with high RPM.But induction motor having
high inertia so we cant able to breaking rotor shaft
immediately.

What is Difference Between Induction Motor & Servo Motor..

Answer / sumit pandey

1. servo motors have in built encoders which servers as
reference for speed to the drive used with servo forming
closed loop while induction motors can use external
encoders.
2.servo motors have high starting torque & low inertia
while induction motors have low starting torque & high
inertia. so, accuracy is much higher in servo motors as in
comparison with induction motors.
