why we used to transmitt the power at higher voltage why not at lower voltage..

Answer / arunkumar

since when we have high voltage ,wat about current ...ya we
have low current..we can save conductor material for
transporting power with high voltage low conductor..

power losses inversly prop to square of voltage

why we used to transmitt the power at higher voltage why not at lower voltage..

Answer / prashant

This is directly related to ohms law V=IR. now from this
its quite evident that V and I are inversely related to
each other. So if V is higher then consequently the I will
be lower and hence the size of the conductor neede to
transmit the power will be small.Considerable cost saving

why i2*r loss is less...becoz we have low current at high
voltage

why we used to transmitt the power at higher voltage why not at lower voltage..

Answer / shahin

the main reson for high voltage transmission for reducing
line loss and improving the efficiency. Another reason for
high voltage transmission is Long distance transmission.

why we used to transmitt the power at higher voltage why not at lower voltage..

Answer / g.t.manikandan

For transmitt the power at higher voltage are
1.Reducing line loss(I^2 R)
2.Improve efficiency
3.Save Material Cost

I am designing new project sub station with 220 kV / 11 kV, 40 MVA capacity. This project have many recifier sets, which can generate 3rd harmonics. Now I have to select vector group of This transformer. To minimise 3rd harmonics, what care should I take in selection of Transformer Vecrtor group? If it is Y-Y with open Delta tertiary then what should be the rating & voltage of Tertiary Winding?
