ok i will explain clearly devolpment is only for
developers
development system ex: assume development is like we are
making a film (azeez) after completing this film (azeez)
testing system: the test will do by film sensar board by
central governamet or state government .they are only for
test the film is any bad words or any sexual clips are
specifed a(assume like errors) .and they will inform us
remove this clip nad this words if not good ..again azeez
film will some what changes will done as per film sensar
board .and teters will again test and provide certificate
to realse this in market
production syatem: now azeez film will realsed for public
im market (end users )and here once realsed no changes can
done no testing can done . no again azeez film can done

Creating Landscape is really important to keep Production
Box up thus running business smoothly since According to
Client requirement. Customizing is done and changes are
tested then are served to Customer. As per SAP
recommendation, One need to have at least one Development
server, One test and then production.and thereafter As per
requirement of customer many other SAP servers can be absorb
to form a Complete Landscape.
Yes we can do development on Production server but Your
Business will be at stake since SAP will not support it and
moreover even a single fault will ruin entire Business
since you dont have any scope left to test your program
before taking them Live.

Development and Production system cannot be in ONE box,
because: Changes in the cross-client customizing data will
affect both the clients (Dev and Prd)

Dear Friend, Landscape and Three tier architecture is different. If we keep all the DEV,QAS,PRD in one box, the changes which made in DEV or QAS cross clients that wil be affeted to PRD. so sap recomends least requirement is TWO system landscape, ie DEV and QAS is one box PRD is on another BOX.

Hi my dear friend
In sap we have 3 types of landscape
one system landscape (Dev Qas Pro)
Two System Landscape (Dev and QAS) for Pro use diferrent
intance
and Three system landscape, they will use 1 for dev &
customization,2 for Testing and 3 for Prodution but what
sap recommends is Three system landscape is best because on
production server runs business if any thing goes wrong all
data will lost so sap always recomands three system
landscape, we can use one system landscape but it will have
high rick

Answer / shanmuga sundaram
Development Server is not only for development, it also used
for applying SAP Notes. SAP recommends apply notes in dev
and import it in Qas and Prd. That is all reports should get
designed in dev and get imported to other boxes. Quality box
is only for testing no other activities should take place if
any correction required bring it back to dev and correct it
and send it to Qas to test it again. finally forward it to
the end users in Prd.
customization and creation of new repository is a process
that which is editing or creating the SAP objects subjected
to the customer. So these procedure is giving you a clear
cut route to handle the system with high level security.

Answer / kiran
Think of you don't have a landscape that means all the customization, testing and live data are in the one single system.since SAP contains cross-client data and client-specific data. If any of the objects in a client (i.e cross-client) has been changed it effects to whole SAP system.
And it effects the production system also.
So, that's why we need to create a landscape that doesn't effect Live systems.SAP recommends three system landscape.
