Answer / miss k
Transmission of dc power is easier due to many reasons
....it requires only 2 conductors,
....no inductance, cap.,phase disp. and surge problem,
....no skin effect,
....charging current eliminated,
....less corona and reducd interference with communication
ckts etc.

trsanmission is easy and cost effective in case of dc
1. it requires only two conductor
2.loss is vey lessthan ac supply
3.no need of capacitor ,inductor
4.corona loss, skin effect are not occur in case of dc
current

my dear frnds all of u right but actualy this transmison is
a distsnce constrain if the trans dist is more than 500 km
then dc is bst else ac trans k

dc is more cost effective for the reasons mentioned above.
ac is used since ac-dc conversion was very expensive
earlier. but now with development of hvdc transmission &
semiconductor technology it has become quite cheap. however
it is difficult to change and re-install the already
existing systems in such a large nation like india.

y u ppl bother abt step up or step down,,,,,,,
d question is only concerned with transmission, not with
distribution n use,
so transmission of DC is cost effective when it is used for
large distancess,
but it involves costaly converter stations so it is only
cost effective for large distance,,,
n offcourse it has following advantage over AC transmission
1. it requires only two conductor
2.loss is vey lessthan ac supply
3.no need of capacitor ,inductor
4.corona loss, skin effect are not occur in case of dc
current
now a days HVDC lines are required for grid stability
also,,,,,,

Both AC and DC has its own Merits and demerits.
But Based on Installation,Maintenance and Efficiency, DC is
best than AC.
Bcaz, in AC has Many Trans Losses,Its required much copper
or Alumin for each line. But in case of DC need not to have
much copper, lesser Trans Losses.
In DC its required Converter and Inverter with heavy
rating.but nowdays its very popular and working more
effective and efficiently.therefore the conversion process
is not much complicated.
In Electrical engineering, our main objective is to transfer
the Power with high efficiency(i,e.,Min loss).
So Upto my knowledge DC is better than AC.
Thank you

welll welll well ..........all u ppls ve gud knowledge abt
ac transmission n dc transmission i just want 2 share wat
knowledge i ve ... the more efficient is dc transmission
now adays government is thinking abt 2 change ac trans into
dc .... becoz cost of dc transmission is less ... only 2
conductors are required ... there will be less losses ...
no surge ,inductance and capcitance pb ... these are
biggest advantages of dc transmission .........

High voltage AC transmission is economical.AC has lower cost of production compared to dc.it can stepped up or down voltage easily by the use of transformers.

Answer / saurabh kumar
according to my knowledge up to the 600km transmission
ac is economical but after 600km dc is much more
economical.this thing can be analise from a graph.
