Better You can use pfcg , because while assigning some role
through pfcg to a user a profile is automatically generated
which is adjusted with the user, later on you can assign the
same role or profile to a group or user.
If you try to assign a role manually through su01 , the role
wont generate a profile and the profile will not be adjusted
with user master data , in short it wont work out.

Hi,

The above mentioned types in you question depends on your
business needs.

If you need to add a large number of users to a perticular
Role, definitly you an use PFCG.

If you need to add more than 1 roles to one Perticular
User, Use Tcode SU01.

Both methods are same, there is no diffrence. When a role
is assign it create a link between user and role in table
agr_users. If role is generated properly then automatically
user will get all associated profiles.

Additional info:
- If role is not generated then assining user from pfcg
won't generate profile automatically users will still
deprived of profile as it nowhere exist.
- If you hit user compare in PFCG then it will syncronize
all changed profile with user master. The same can be done
via PFUD.

Hi,
One can Assign Role to User through PFCG and can transport
the same role to User and it is preferable.

If you add in the SU01 also you have to go for PFCG and you
have to do user comparision.
So PFCG is preferable.

Both the methods are almost same, but preference to be given to PFCG as role comparision need not be done separately.
