Answer / pandi
if A.c supply given to D.c motor more spark at brush & run
at low speed with noise

Answer / chandan
It depends on the motor construction. If the field winding
is connected in series with the armature winding, the motor
is like a universal motor and will probably operate
normally. If the field winding is connected in parallel with
the armature, the motor will not run, but will draw current,
make noise and get hot.

Its quite simple...
Motor Will run with reduce speed & With Humming noise Comes
with Steps of jerk.
| Is This Answer Correct ? | 10 Yes | 1 No |
Answer / vinaykumar
it will run at very low speed and excessive heat is
produced in the motor due high hysterisis and eddy current
losses and along run may damage the motor

When ac supply is ginen to DC motor, DC motor will run with
less speed and prodeced some noice.

if A.c. supply given to D.c. motor the net torqe will be
zero and motor will not work. bez postive &negative cycle
is zero.

Answer / manish
dc motor does no work on ac.it will not rotate because in
india ac frequency is 50 hz so the time of half cycle is
only 10 ms.this time is too short to move because of its
inertia.
but expeptionaly dc series motor will rotate when it is
given to ac supply.
| Is This Answer Correct ? | 5 Yes | 1 No |
Answer / swarupa
In ac supply the magnitude and direction of voltage or
current changes for every half cycles so the dc motor may run
but in very low speed due to less torque develop & also due
to inertia. If it is run continue the frequency losses may
increase due to high heat. The efficiency poor.
