when between two conductor, the surrounding
medium is ionised and chage are deposite on
the conductor, during this process glow light
with hissing sound. Or when phase voltage is
more than the critical disruptive voltage, at
thats time will corone occure...i.e called
corona..

corona effect means long transmission line electro magnetic
field ,So all electron will flow surface of conductor,Some
of electron will try to flow to ground thrugh moisture and
unwanted dust that is called corona effect.

In normal atmospheric condition ion & free electron are always present because of cosmic ray , radioactivity,& ultraviolet ray.When a voltage applied to the conductor a potential gradient in the air near to the conductor ,the free electron & ion start moving.But when these voltage increase very high ,the speed of the electron is very high,and they collide with the neutral molecule & disclosed the electron from it & farther electron acquire high speed & start colliding with the other molecules.the process of ionization is cumulative which finely result in electron avalanche.the ionization of air surrounding the conductors give rise the corona effect.
