Answer / partha pratim debnath
Basically power factor is the cosine angle between the
active power to the apparent power.
It can be analysed through by power triangle.
p.f.=active power/apparent power
kW/kVA

POWER FACTOR IS COSINE OF ANGLE BETWEEN VOLTAGE & CURRENT
IN AC CKT. HOWEVER IN SIMPLE TERMS IT CAN BE DESCRIBED AS
EFFICIENCY FACTOR OF LOAD IN p.u. IT SIGNIFIES WHAT AMOUNT
OF ELECTRICAL ENERGY IS REQD BY LOAD WITH A GIVEN P.F.
THUS IF TWO MOTORS OF SAY 80 KW WITH ONE HAVING P.F. 0.8
& OTHER HAVING PF 0.85, THEN FOR RATED LOAD FIRST MOTOR
WILL REQUIRE 100KVA WHILE OTHER MOTOR WILL REQUIRE 94.1KVA
OF ENERGY

Answer / ranjana chauhan
IT IS THE RATIO OF RASISTANCE AND TOTAL INPEDNCE OF THAT
CIRCUIT AND DENOTED BY COS PHI.
P.F. = R/Z
| Is This Answer Correct ? | 14 Yes | 9 No |
