What will happen if 230V DC motor connected to 230V AC
Supply?
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
These are the effets produced when a DC motor connected
with AC supply:
1.Rotor speed will be less than the rated speed.
2. Rotor produced less torque and max. will be very less.
3.Core and copper loss will be more.
4.high sparking at brush, there by reduced life.
5.Motor gets heated up easily.

when a dc motor is connected to a ac supply it will run
with reduced efficiency.in case of ac reactance will comes
into picture.so,increased losses due to inductance.and
there is sparking at brushes.motor will run with reduced
speed.

DC series motor can rotate but less speed compare to DC
supply

Answer / anand
actually motor will be damage for giving ac supply...speed
of the motor decreasing, sparking at brushes, then get
heats...in case dc series motor wil run without less
problem ....bcoz series motor os a univresal motor.....

Rotor speed will be decreased.
It produces a less torque.
Losses will be more

Answer / parikh snkp
it will work...coz in the nextcycle both field and armature winding both will be in reversed direction so by this we can get same side rotation ........i mean to say unidirectional rotational
