how can we calculate cutting length of a column ring (300 x 600)..

SIZE OF COLUMN=400*600 mm
assume clear cover to column=40mm
Dia. of Stirrup=8mm
then
b=B-clear cover-dia. of stirrup
b=400-40-8=352mm
similarly
l=L-clear cover-dia. of stirrup
l=600-40-8=552mm
then
cutting length=2*(b+l)+2*10*dia of stirrup-5*2*dia of stirrup
cutting length=2*(352+552)+2*10*8-5*2*8
cutting length=1888mm=1.88m

assume c.cover of column 30mm.
so, 2(L+B)+24D
where, D= dia of steel bar.

sol,assume dia of steel bar= 8mm
=2(540+240)+24*8
=1752mm.(cutting length for col ring)

Side cover in coulmn=40mm
If dia. of ring bar used is assumed is d= 8mm
Then,
Total Cutting length=2(L+B)-2(2x40)+2d+2(5*d)
=2(300+600)-160+16+80
=1736 mm

Side Cover in Column=40mm
So,
L=600-2*40=520mm
B=300-2*40=220mm
If Dia. of Ring assumed d=8mm
Then Cutting Length of Ring
Cutting Length=2[(520+2*d/2)+(220+2*d/2)]+2*10d-5d
=2[(528+228]+160-40
=2[756]+120
=1512+120
=1632mm

formula to calculate the cutting length =2(L+B) +20d - 5d.
=2(220+520) +20*8 -5*8
=1480+160-40
=1600mm
