Why the wage type HRA should only in IT 0008 not in 0015 or
0014.(The interviewer asked me how you are going to convince
the client that the HRA wage type should only appear in 0008
not in 0014 or 0015 Info Types)

Since all the wage type which are by default taxable at
sourcs are maintained in Infotype 0008, so HRA wage type is
also maintained in IT 0008. If same is paid through IT
0014/0015, will be additional benefit's. aAlso, HRA wage
type is configured under Wage type grouping 0008. However,
the taxablity condition can be removed/reduced if certain
proofs(such as rent receipt,lease agreement,ownership doc)
are shown.

14 & 15 are for additional payments wage types. Basic wage
types are maintained in 0008. So HRA is maintained in IT0008

HRA is calculated based on basic pay...whereas IT14 and IT15 are not calculated on basic pay..they are not dependant on IT0008.thats the reason HRA should appear in 0008 and not in 0014 and 15.

HRA is part of Basic salary component, so it will be come
in IT 0008.

Just giving a new angle or a thought. I might be wrong, and you are free to write me back.
I think, 0014 & 0015 do not have validity period or both infotypes have fixed date and mainly used for one time payments. But HRA is a component which has to be given repeatedly, we can maintain this wage type in 0008 and can also assign a validity period. Also, (In India, at least) HRA is calculated as a part of Basic Salary, it will change of basic salary is changed and that can be taken care by the wage type in 0008.

HRA wage type comes under wage type grouping 0008.This
grouping only for IT0008 infortype, thats why u have
maintain the wage type HRA in IT0008 infor type.
