For protection of generator(Protection of stator and rotor
winding during short circuit or any other electrical fault)
as well as for human sfety aspects generator is always
earthed/grounded by two earthings.

generator is a highly investment equipment which should be
protected from the faults conditions and sudden changes in
the load and increase in the voltage abruptly when earthing
is given if forms a closed loop the currents take grounded

Ideally, the neutral point of a 3 phase star connected
generator is zero. As a means of protection of the
generator (stator and rotor windings)the neutral point is
grounded in order that inbalance of voltage between the
phases due to faulty conditions will be sent to ground. This
is to avoid breakdown of stator or rotor windings
insulation, or even severe burn of windings.
