Water absorption of brick is nothing but the % of water
that the brick can absorbs when it is placed in water.
It isshould not be more that 15 to 20 % of its weight.

like silica, clay,ash,sand,etc this propotionate should
vary in all every production and also watercontent plays
very major role in the bricks
as per IS CODE SAYS 15 TO 20 PERCENT is the max limit of
water absorption brick in 24 hrs
water absorption in bricks depend only voidratio of bricks
and also poor compaction ,
well burnt bricks it should be burnt on all sides equally
good shape also all dimensions should be in proper and
clear

As per IS:3495,the average water absorption shall not be
more than 20 persent by weight upto class 12.5 and 15
persent by weight for higher classes in 24hrs.Bricks,which
do not conform to this requirement shall be rejected.Over
or under burnt bricks are not acceptable for use in the
works.
