What is the difference between Wraft and file foundation and where these are used ?..

If load of the structure is not huge enough and need not a deep foundation but the quality of soil also not very good in a shallow depth then we go for raft foundation. Where the load is quite high and need a good bearing capacity then we go for pile foundation.

1.Raft foundation is shallow foundation ( depth is less than width )
2.commonly used high rised buildings
3.Suitable for low & High bearing capacity of soil
4.Load is spread large area in uniform way
5 Advantage of different settlement of soil
Pile Foundation
1.Pile foundation is deep foundation ( Depth is more than depth)
2.Normally used coastal area's
3.It is used low bearing capacity (it transfer load into hard soil or rock in loose soil area)
4.Piles are used anchor structure against uplift load
