lrs is connected to the sliprings of induction motor.it require for adding external resistance to ckt for controling the huge starting current and attain high starting torgue.once induction motor attain speed, lrs is disconnected from ckt.
it is made of combination of water and some portion of caustic soda

simply we use LRS for reducing the starting high current( to operate the equipment safely) and gain high torque.
as ph value more as the resistance became more.

Combination of water and caustic soda for improving the resistance in starter, that's called Liquid Resistance starter. If any slip ring Induction motor, at the time of starting given the external resistance required to rotor side, why because starting current and starting torque is very high. So we are using resistance starter depend on motor capacity , at that place using Liquid resistance starter. Liquid resistance starter (LRS) ,IN which external resistance is liquid media which is use for the starting method of slip ring motor. For starting of slip ring motor external resistance are required so that we use liquid (addition of some caustic soda)as resistance so that is called as LRS.
