What is a liquid resistance starter?where it is used??..

Answer / mr. sachin

Liquid resitance starter (LRS) ,IN which external
resistance is liquied media which is use for the starting
method of slip ring motor.

for starting of slip ring motor external resistance are
required so that we use liquid (addition of some caustic
soda)as resistance so that it is called as LRS.

What is a liquid resistance starter?where it is used??..

Answer / gopal

Combination of water and castic soda for improving the
resistance in starter, i.e. called Liquid Resistance
starter.

If any slip ring Induction motor, at the time of starting
given the external resistance required to rotor side, why
because starting current and startying torque is very high.
So we are using resitance starter.Depend on motor
capacity , at that place using Liquid resistance starter.

What is a liquid resistance starter?where it is used??..

Answer / anurag pattanayak

Since in a Slip Ring Induction Motor, the Rotor resistance is low, this can cause very high current and low starting torque.SO by externally adding resistance , we increase the rotor resistance and thus decrease the starting current and increase the starting torque. ie Pull out torque can be achieved at very low RPM.
An LRSS is nothing but a solution of Caustic Soda. which is connected in series with rotor.
On starting, the LRSS resistance is added to rotor resistance ( LRSS In condition)
...as slowly motor starts to gain speed ..the LRSS contacts move, there by reducing the resistance between its contacts and thus the effective resistances decreases.

When the motor has gained full speed, LRSS is cut out by usually using a shorting contactor.
thus a slip ring induction motor runs a cage motor at full speed.

What is a liquid resistance starter?where it is used??..

Answer / sachin

LRS i.e. liquid rotor starter which is use for starting the
slip ring motor generally ht motor.
IN THIS STARTER LIQUID IS THE MEDIA FOR EXTERNAL RESISTANCE
WHICH IS HIGH AT STARTING AND ZERO AT FULL SPEED.

AND IT IS ONLY FOR STARTING THE MOTOR ONLY.
ON ANOTHER SIDE WE CAN CONTROL THE MOTOR SPEED BY SAME BUT
SAME LITTLE DIFFERENCE IN CONSTRUCTION AND CALLED AS LRR (
LIQUID ROTOR RESISTANCE)

it is a starter which is combination of water and caustic
soda.it is used normaly in HT motor for decrease starting
current and increase starting torque.

What is a liquid resistance starter?where it is used??..

Answer / tribhuvan pareek

lrs is basically a starter which is use in ht motor to
reduce starting current of ht motor in this a pilot motor
is used the motor operate the moving contact in between
fixed and moving contact caustic soda is filled according
if motor in starting position there is high resistance by
the pilot motor arrangement and when motor in runing
condition contacts are touched each other and low
resistance.

What is a liquid resistance starter?where it is used??..

Answer / ameeya(acc)

lrs is used at the time of starting of slipring induction
motor(HT) to reduced high starting current and create high
starting torque.as the name indicates here water and costic
soda works as resistance .bcoz slip ring ind.motor rotor is
nt shorted.so this work can be done through this reistance

What is a liquid resistance starter?where it is used??..

Answer / jamir ansari

lrs is used in applications where high starting torque is
required with minimal current. in slip ring motors liquid
resistence is inserted with the rotor circuit so as to
increase the slip thereby increasing the torque and reducing
the current. resistence is cut in steps and is short
circuited when motor reaches its normal speed.
