We have to interchange either starting winding connection
or running winding connection. But not both.

For changing the direction of rotation of a single phase
induction motor u reverse either starting winding
connection or running winding (but do not change both
winding connection otherwise it will rotate in the same
direction). For this you can simple reverse the connection
of capacitor.
For three phase motor interchange the connection of any two
phase.

as single phase Ac induction motor are not self starting
they need capacitor to introduce phase difference. In
capacitor start and capacitor run motor(all ceiling fans) by
interchanging the leads of either capacitor or running
winding we can change the direction of rotation.

we can change the direction of single phase induction motor
by interchanging the leads of main winding or starting
winding, but not both. Also by by interchanging the leads of
capacitor, we can change the direction.

While connecting the flood light plug on to the 415 V distribution panel, there was spark and the cable got burnt. Three ignitors of the flood light also burnt of. The lamps are of 400 W (total 6 lamps) connected through 1.5 mm2 cable. The plug was immediately removed from the circuit. There was a 30 mA RCD connected and a 250 A MCCB; however both did not trip. What could be the possible reasons for the circuit devices not to trip? Can someone assist please. Additional info if needed can be provided.
