When a background job is cancelled, as a basis consultant,
fiest you need to conclude whether it is programmatic error
or something else that caused the error. If it is
programmatic error you leave it to ABAPer or else look into
the issue. It could be Memory issue, GUI issue, RFC conn
issue, Time out issue etc. Depending on issue, search for
sapnotes for a solution and proceed accordingly.

if background job is cancelled means initially we have to
check whether the background job is running in which
application server and is the application server is up and
running or not then you have to check is there any memory
related issues ,and check status of the workprocess,and is
there any rfc issues,may user is expired ,file system space
issues.
