Answer / mustakul
megger is an instument which in addition to measurement of
high resistance can be used to test the quality of the
insulation at or above its operating voltage.
whereas earth tester is used to measure low earth resistance

Megger is used for measuring an insulation resistance of
motor winding of cable etc. which is measured in megaohm.
While earth tester has earth electrodes which are used to
measure eathpit resistance & it is measured in ohm.

Megger is used for insulation resitance measurement between
any phase and earth or ground whereas earth tester is used
to measure earth's resistance between any two points.

megger is used to determine the value resistence of
insulation however earth tester is used to measure earth
resistence.

Answer / jaseena
megger is used for measuring insulation resistance in mega
ohm range ,while earth tester is used for measuring the
earth resistance which is always less than 5 ohms ie a low
resistance

MEGGER IS USED 2 MEASURE D INSULATION RESISTANCE OF ANY
CABLE SO THAT ANY LEAKAGE BETWEEN THE INSULATION CAN BE
KNOWN AND MEASURES IN MEGA OHM...........
AND EARTH TESTER IS USED TO MEASURE THE LOW EARTH
RESISTANCE OF BETWEEN ANY TWO POINTS WHICH IS ALWAYS LESS
AND IN OHMS.............................

Answer / vinit patil
Basically Both are DC generators having different scales.
Megger measures insulation resistance on higher scale while
earth tester on lower.

megger is used for measuring insulation resistance between
current carrying path (when supply is isolate) to ground
while earth tester is using for measured resistance between
two points of ground.

megger is used for measuring insulation resistance in any
ohm range 15 tera ohms ,while earth tester is used for
measuring the
earth resistance which is always less than 10 ohms ie a low
resistance
