WE CAN MEASURE THE INSULATION RESISTANCE OF DC MACHINE AND
AC MACHINE BY USING INSULATION MEGGAR.IT SHOULD BE OF THE
ORDER OF MEGA OHMS..
EARTH RESISTANCE IS THE RESISTANCE OFFERED
BY THE SOIL.IT SHOULD BE OF ORDER OF OHMS

Megger is used for measuring an insulation resistance of
motor winding of cable etc. which is measured in megaohm.
While earth tester has earth electrodes which are used to
measure eathpit resistance & it is measured in ohm.
megger is used for measuring insulation resistance in mega
ohm range ,while earth tester is used for measuring the
earth resistance which is always less than 5 ohms ie a low
resistance

megger is nothing but an insulation tester, used to measure
(during off-line)the insulation resistance between two
conducting paths and/or a conducting path and a earth,and
usually in MOhms, whereas, an earth tester is an instrument
used to measure the earth resistance with the help of earth
electrodes and usually in Ohms

megger is an instrument which is used for the measurement of
insulation of a particular object . the principle of
ratiometer ohmmeters is particularly used in meggers.
while the earth tester is used for measurement of earth
resistance which will be less than 5ohm

<1>Megger=Meggar megger means insulation resistance(IR VALUES) of any cable ,wire bus bar etc .ITS UNIT IS OHM
<2>
It only measure earth resistance of pit.ITS UNIT IS OHM.
It has two electrode (i.e potential electrode and current electrode) with respect to earth plate under test. The potential electrode will fixed 15mtr from earth plate under test and current electrode 30mtr from earth plate under test.
<3> IF WE ROTATE THE HANDLE OF EARTH TESTER IN OPEN CONDITION THEN THE READING WILL BE 0 OHMS. BUT MEGGER WILL SHOWS INFINITE OHMS.
<4 >MEGGER HAS THREE TERMINALS <i>LINE
<ii> GUARD
<iii>EARTH
<5>EARTH TESTER HAS THREE TERMINAL <i>E(earth plate under test) <ii>P(potential electrode ) <iii>C( current electrode)
