There r many reasons behind low voltage..
1.. due to fluctuation of lv side supply
2.. if your equipment is connected parallel with higher load like higher rating induction motor then its will affect the supply voltage during starting of macine
3..and other one may be loose connection..

Answer / durgapriya
Low voltages caused due to overloading of a phase. As current drawn by the loads increases, the losses in a line increases..this causes a drop in voltage that the consumer mains..for example..the voltage of 230v..the maximum permissible low voltage at service mains is 216 volts..[a decrease of 6% of rated voltage]

If one of phases is feeding on the other this can lead to those at far end receiving low voltage and if care is not taking you end up burning the winding

as we know the equation of power in single phase circuit
that if P= VI COS PHI
I IS CONSTANT for rated equipment
POWER IS CONSTANT
SO V= P/(I cos Phi)
as we have inductive load in home so power facter varies
thus voltage is inversely proportional to the power
factor.hence the voltage fluctuates due to variation of
power factor

Answer / gkumar
Due to low power factor by using highly inductive loads
simultaneously such as motors, a/c's, heaters, geysers dis
coz low power factor
& results in low voltages.

In Low voltage systems needs only lower cable insulation
levels, thus decreasing cost of wires & safe to operate,

because all the household appliances are designed to
opreate on low voltage and current is directly proportional
to voltage so less voltage means less current

generallly at the transformer lowvotage side carries high
current, eventhough it is distributed to houses bcoz of
current division is being happen. As more number of houses
more the load and more the current division. the apparatus
operating at high votages needs more insulation,it is not
possible. with that the size of apparatus increases and
accupies more space area.To decrese the level high voltage
we need to connect high values of resistors in
series, threby more the losses and less the efficiency and
it dissipates more heat.
