Such kind of bugs are called Spell Check. It might be a
small to fix but from user or client point of view it is a
low severity and high priority, as it is not going to effect
to other it is low severity but from client or end user
point of view it is must fix bug so it is priority and to be
done immediately. that is the reason now a days they give
much important to usability these days. (competitive world..
:))

(Spell check should be tested very carefully because small
small mistakes can loose hope to the development company and
may loose projects in some cases too.
SO all QA related people do caution related to Spell Check.

Hi Friends

The mentioned answers are all wrong. I think they didn't
the understand the question

here they are asking in the test box instead of icici and
icci is coming, it means you icici is bank and we donot
about icci and if any payment is paying through icici and
the user has to enter the icici but it is taking icci. if
the payment does not go fast it will cause a huge dame to
the client or party

So, I think the seviarity is critical and priority is high

here is we want one output and it is giving other output is
it is a small thing and i donot think so.

Hi Srinivas,

As for my knowlege , above all the answer are right(except
yours) sorry am not discourging you...

In the above bug , they are not telling whether it is a
bank or something. they only mention that its a text box.

Which means that the priority and severity will depends on
how the text value will get intergrated.

I m nt agree with most of you..Actually question is also not
precise.Let me first clear my view regarding this case.

If its a normal spell mistake bug then whatever u all are
saying is right though after reading question I don't think
its typo error. If data is retrieved from back end &
displayed in text box at front end erroneously then its
critical bug.Its severity as well as priority should be
high.Secondly it also depends upon this text box holds what
kind of data i.e vital information or trivial .e.g If this
text box contains name of customer then its a critical bug
bcoz we have entered wrong customer name in database also we
have entered it wrongly it can put us in big trouble..

This is development error and should have been resolved
during Unit test itself.
If text entered in the back end is ICICI and if the front
end displays ICCI.
In this case it's functional issue and priority holds as High.

As per my knowledge if u think in normal case low severity
and low priority.mainly it depends on the situation of the
application or text box.it is a simple spell check error.
but some times this creates a major problem.means
low severity and high priority.

for example if it is icici bank but we are giving icci then
in this case its priority is high

Generally for cosmatic bugs we will give low severity and
low priority only. But in some situations like application
is ready to release at that time if we find this type of
bug then priority will be high as sateesh said.
