Wht is the Throughput in performance testing during web based testing, Generally how do we test th..

Answer / liz

Throughput is one of the basics performance metrics. It is
the rate at which a computer or network receives data or
request per sec. Tipically it's expressed like bytes/sec.

So, if the throughput is increasing for increasing load
then the applications i performing well.

Remember that it's not the only one performance metric. You
can measure it with LoadRunner, but this is not the only
one tool in the market.

Answer / srinivas

The amount of data transferred across the network is called
throughput. It considers the amount of data transferred
from the server to client only and is measured in Bytes/sec.

Answer / naveen naidu

Through put is the amount of data received from the Server
in given time. it will be measured in Seconds.

we have graph where in we can see the Through put data in
LOADRunner, by seeing that graph we can understand how the
data is coming from the sever, if it is constant then the
performance of server is good. if the data is geting
veryslow or if it is 0 then it will create a problem in
performance testing.

Answer / furqan

Throughput is the transactions per second your application can handle (motivation / result of load testing). There are lots of users performing different transactions in a typical enterprise application. You need to ensure that the application must meet the required capacity of enterprise before going to production. Load testing can be done for this. Strategy is to pick mix of transactions (critical, frequent, and intensive), observing how many pass successfully in acceptable time frame governed by your SLAs.

Answer / janesh kodikara

Throughput is the number units of work that can be handled
by the web applications per unit time.

e.g :
Number of requests handled by the application per day
Number of reports generated per day
Number of hits per second etc

Time is important when throughput is discussed along with
the number of units of the work.

Open source tools like Grinder, JMeter automatically
calculate them for you. The results need to be tailered and
comply with your project context.

The result can be further formatted (e.g Using MS XL Pivot
tables)

Wht is the Throughput in performance testing during web based testing, Generally how do we test th..

Answer / anushri

Throughput is the measured as the number of responses given
by the server in a given period(say 2 milisec or 5 milisec)
of time.
There are several performance testing tools available such
as Load runner, web load, silk performer, Jmeter, Badboy etc
I used Loadrunner tool. So in load runner tool we have one
component called "controller", which organizes, drives,
manages, and monitors the load test.
In one of its(controller) monitor we can see the throughput
of the application in terms of graph.

Wht is the Throughput in performance testing during web based testing, Generally how do we test th..

Answer / jignesh

Throughput is the amount of digital data per time unit that is delivered over a physical or logical link, or that is passing through a certain network node. For example, it may be the amount of data that is delivered to a certain network terminal or host computer, or between two specific computers. The throughput is usually measured in bits per second (bits/s or bps), occasionally in data packets per second or data packets per timeslot. The term corresponds to digital bandwidth consumption.
The system throughput or aggregate throughput is the sum of the data rates that are delivered to all terminals in a network.
