In sales document the line item data will be control by Itemcategory.
Item category plays a key role in sales document,
it will help to determine sheduline category,
Item category group will help to determine Itemcategory
and it also controls wether is stand material or third party material or ipo material or make to order or variant
for standrd material item category group is - NORM
for BOM header pricing main item -ERLA
for BOM Item pricing main item-LUMF
for third party material-BANS
for ipo material-BANC
for Make to order-0001
for variant-0002

Item Category determines the processing of any Item/material that we enter in a sales order and in this way it also effects the procesing of any sales doc in which it is used.
Item Category Group is one of the component which along with the Sales Doc Type, The Item Usage and Higher Level Item Category decide about the Item Category in a sales doc.
for example we can ERLA as item cat group and carry out the header level pricing or we can LUMF and do the item level pricing in case of a Sales BOM.

system consider item usage when ever subitem will be determine into sales document other than BOM
EX: free goods, material determination, cross selling

Item Category controls how the item should be determined into Business Transaction.
Item Category determination is one of the parameter to determine item category with the help of Transaction types.
i.e Transaction type + Item cat. gr. = Item cat. Determination.
Example : In case of BOM (CS01), Header pricing main item -ERLA to carry out the Header level pricing
and
Item pricing main item-LUMF to carry out Item level pricing.

HI GURUS i have 1 problem .my clients wants to sale wastes material,thats why i configure all the process(diff distribution channel,order,del,billing type,etc) i create order>delivery correctly but when i am going to post the doc for pgi it showing a red error massage "business area 1002 does not exist". we never create business area 1002.we use KOLK .In order the system took KOLK but in pgi it showing this error. but again when i am trying to post system allows me to post and took the KOLK automatically. I check all the con and all are correct. what is the reason behind it?how can i solve this problem? If any one can help me Thanks
