GC: Is used for analysis of volatile compounds and thermal stable, (detectors are FID,TCD,ECD and pCD i.e...)volatility is important for GC.
HPLC : Non volatile and compounds having chromophores is used for HPLC (Here voltatile nature is not important both volatile and non volatile compounds are analysd on HPLC but volatile nature is very important to GC.

in hplc compounds are seperate based on adsorption, in this
technique less volatile compounds are seperated, column are
made from silica.
in gc compounds are seperate based on partition, high
volatile compounds are seperated, capiilary columns are used

Gc analyze only for residual solvents means here using
flame ionization detector at a time so many solvents
analyzing temperature program also here.HPLC at a time not
using so many solvents because here column using polar or
non polar but GC using like midpolar also. Main reason is
dissolving process in mobile phase because polar and
nonpolar nature

GC is used for the analysis of solvents only, which HPLC can
not analyse.
Accuracy is more in GC in comparision to HPLC.
