1 Cum Brick Work CM 1: 6 - How Many Bricks ,sand,Cement
Required? Brick Size 9" 4.5" 3"
Answers were Sorted based on User's Feedback
Exp:-length of wall=10ft
Bredth of wall=4.5in
Height of wall=9.5ft
Qty.10*0.375*9.5=35.625cft
Provide .5in morter in each line of bricks.
So,first calculate qty.of mortar in total work with following steps:-
Step-1. Calcuate qty. of mortar in one line
of bricks:-
10*0.375*0.0625=0.2344cft.
Step-2. Calculate nos. of lines of bricks in given height:-
9.5/0.292=32.53 or 33bricks.
Step-3. Calculate qty. of mortar:-
33*0.2344=7.73cft.
So,Total brick work:-
35.625-7.73=27.895cft
Net. Qty. of bricks=
27.895/0.0703=396.8bricks
say 397 bricks

#Bricks of class designation 7.5 in foundation and plinth
in :-
Brick with wastage = 494
Mortar = .25
Cement Ratio is 1:6, then
Cement=(.25/(1+6))*1 = .0357 cum
Cement in Bags = .0357/.034722 = 1.0286 bags
Sand = (.25/(1+6))*6 = 0.2143 cum
= 0.2143 * 35.29 = 7.56 Cft
# Bricks of class designation 7.5 in superstructure above
plinth level up to floor V level in all shapes and sizes
in:-
Brick with wastage = 494
Mortar = .22
Cement Ratio is 1:6, then
Cement=(.22/(1+6))*1 = .03143 cum
Cement in Bags = .03143/.034722 = 0.905 bags
Sand = (.22/(1+6))*6 = 0.189cum
= 0.189* 35.29 = 6.655 Cft

For 1cubic meter:
No.of bricks with motar is 392 but say 400,
Cement is 1.5 bag,
Sand is 0.23 to 0.275 depends on motar ratio,generally we consider 0.26cu.m of sand

Generaly we cosidered as a wall of thickness of 9"
Then when we calculate no. of brick per sq.ft. then we should consider above thick.
let cal. no.of brick/sqft = (12"x12"x9")/(8.5"x5.5"x3")
=9.240
Then if we add thck of mortar 1/2"(12cm) no.of bricks= 9.010
Total no of bricks in one brass
= 10x10x9
=900
and also add 5%wastage.

Answer / arunava singha
brick size in meter=.23*.115*.075 =.0019
add 10 mm mortar for ech sides=(.24*.125*.085)=(.0025)
bricks required for 1 m3 =(1/(0.0025)=400 nos
mortar required =(.0025-.0019)*400=.24
add 15% for wastage = (.24*1.15)=.276m3
so required sand is =.276 m3
cement is =(1440/6)=240*.276= 66 kg

volume of 1 brick = 0.2286*0.1143*0.0762= 0.00199103 cum
consider 1" thick mortar on either sides
volume of 1 brick with mortar = 0.2413*0.127*0.0889= 0.00272435 cum
No of brick work for 1 cum with mortar = 1/0.00272435 = 367 bricks
No of bricks without mortar for 1 cum= 1/0.00199103 =503 bricks
volume of mortar = (0.00272435-0.00199103)*367= 0.269 cum
volume of mortar in dry condition= 0.269*1.33= 0.358 cum
Cement required= 0.358*1/7*1440= 73.64 kg= 1.473 bags
sand required= 0.358*6/7*35.3357= 10.84 cuft
