latches are most basic storage elements. And flip flops are
constructed out of them.Latches are triggered by control
signals while flip-flops by clock pulses.latches are level
triggered but f/f are edge-triggered.latches are not used
because they are transparent i.e.,outputs change immediately
when inputs change when signal is in the same level which is
not desirable hence flip-flops are used.

flip-flops has clock where as latches don't have clock .....

Answer / eric
1. Latches does not have a clock input but the flip-flops have a clock input.
2. The output of flip-flops depend on the transition of inputs & clock pulses but output of latches only depend on the transition of input.

LATCH FLIP FLOP
1.its a ASYNCHRONUS device 1.its a SYNCHRONUS device.
2.its a LEVEL TRIGGERED device 2.its a EDGE TRIGGERED device.
3.it does NOT HAV a CLOCK PULSE. 3.it does HAV CLOCK PULSE.

To answer this question we need to be trace back to the
history of latches and flip flops.
Because there we will get answer for which is first "Seed or
Tree"?
According to the article here...
http://www.ee.ucl.ac.uk/~ademosth/E757/Topic2.pdf ...it
seems that Latch is basic building block for a flip-flop.
Latch is enhanced with clock to form a flip flop and make it
a synchronous device.
Interestingly, there are asynchronous flip-flops whose
output can be forced to change without the reference to the
clock.

Acytually i have some tips which are written in mano's book:
1- latches operate with signal levels (not signal
transitions)
On the other handflip-flops are controled with clock signal
transitions.
so latches are said to be level sensitive devices & flip
flops are said to be edge transitoins devices
the two devices are related because latches are the basic
circuits from which all the flip-flops are constructed
2- latches are usfull for storing information and for
designing asynchronous sequntial circuits but are not
practical for use in synchronous sequential circuits
because they are considered as the building blocks of the
flip-flops.
I hope this is usefull.

the basic difference between flipflop n latch is for
flipflop we will give clock as input whereas for latch we
will control signal as input..one more difference is the
output of flipflop is either 1 or 0 whereas output of latch
is it will follow input up to control signal gets low state...

Latches are level senstive control signal input and are asynchronous, whose o/p changes asoon as i/p changes
while flip flops are edge senstive control signal input and are synchronous, whose o/p changes simultaneously with i/p

One thing you should remember while trying to solve a math series is that math skills are generally not that important, but rather a vulture’s eye is required to get a strong hold on the unusual, yet a craziest of the logical minds is. Keep this in mind and try to complete the sequence with the appropriate number: 201315, 71280, 9253, 212, ?
