Latches and flip-flops are the basic elements for storing
information. One latch or flip-flop can store one bit of
information. The main difference between latches and
flip-flops is that for latches, their outputs are constantly
affected by their inputs as long as the enable signal is
asserted. In other words, when they are enabled, their content
changes immediately when their inputs change. Flip-flops, on
the other hand, have their content change only either
at the rising or falling edge of the enable signal. This
enable signal is usually the controlling clock signal. After the
rising or falling edge of the clock, the flip-flop content
remains constant even if the input changes.

FLIPFLOP:flipflop works on the basis of clock pulse.it is a
edge trigerred,it means that output and next state input
changes when there is a change in clock pulse it may a +ve
or -ve clockpulse.flipflop has 2 values.clocked latches are
called flipflop.
LATCH:It works on the basis of enable fuction input.it is a
level trigerred,it mean that the output of present state and
input of the next state depends on the level that is binary
input '0' or '1' .latches has only one value.it is flipflop
without clock.

The main difference between latches and flip-flops is the
method used to change their states. Latches are level
sensitive, or level-triggered. This means that the outputs
are dependent on the voltage level applied, not on any
signal transition. Flip-flops are edge-triggered, that is
that they depend on the transition of a signal. This may
either be a LOW-to-HIGH (rising edge) or a HIGH-to-LOW
(falling edge) transition.

The difference between a latch and a flip-flop is that a latch does not have a clock signal, whereas a flip-flop always does.Latches are asynchronous, which means that the output changes very soon after the input changes.A flip-flop is a synchronous version of the latch.
Latch is a level sensitive device and flip-flop is edge sensitive device. Latch is sensitive to glitches on enable pin, where as flip-flop is immune to gltiches.
Latches take less gates (also less power) to implement then flip-flops.
Latches are faster then flip-flops.
