What shocks us ,
Current or voltage?

Answer / ankur
current shoks us because voltage is a source which flows the
current and current is a flow of electrons when current
flows in our body plasma cells on bloods rupture and we feel
shocks

definitely, voltage b,coz current will only flow through the body when there is a voltage difference.
As an eg. if u r holding a phase wire without been grounded,or touching any other phase or neutral u wont get shock.
This is b'coz there is no voltage difference.

Why do we get a shock from electricity?
Electricity shocks us, because it is an outside force that
interferes with the internal electricity our bodies'
nervous systems generate.
To fully understand why the chance encounter of these two
electrical forces results in a shock to our systems, we
must first understand the fundamentals of electricity
itself.
In scientific terms, electricity is considered a
fundamental force, one that is extremely basic, and has
been in existence since the beginning of time. Further
simplified, it is so basic, that it defies explanation, and
is Mother Nature's way of saying "Because I said so"!
Electricity comprises positive and negative charges,
opposite charges attract each other, and similar charges
repel each other. Those charges attracted to each other can
be separated, with the end product being potential energy,
that is, energy that will be released as voltage, should
the two reunite. We pay electric companies to separate the
positive and negative charges for us, so that we have
electrical energy at our disposal.
In order for the charges to reunite, and for the potential
energy to be released as voltage, a conductor, a channel
that they can flow through, is needed. Insulators, such as
paper and glass make poor conductors, while wire and water
make excellent conductors. Unfortunately, since the human
body consists primarily of water, it too provides a superb
conductor for electrical energy, or voltage.

its Current which cause shocks ......its practical example
is touch the both terminals of ur car battery its of 12V
but it dont shock u.....and the other thin touch a wire
which has current 0.5A thath will shock u alot....!

Answer / ashok mishra
the correct answer is current
because miliampere current is efficient to make the shock in our body
current produces I2R losses means heat
and after getting shock our body burns
. . .voltage is the reference name of current it just make it to flow

See, current and voltage are not different things they
combinely called as power. everybody is saying answer, but
no one has mentioned about the body resistance. so whenever
power exist you may feel shock according to your body
resistance. for example some one may feel shock in 60v
supply but other one may not, bcoz he/she may have higher
body resistance compare to prior one. my conclusion is
neither current nor voltage (specifically) but the
electrical power was the reason.

electrical shock depend on amount of voltage is the body
and how current is flowin through the body, shock cause by
the combination of both voltage and curent

Answer / viking
Electric shock injuries are caused by lightning or electric current from a mechanical source passing through the body.

Answer / shamsul qamar
It is the current which shocks us (upto 9 mA current, our
body can sustain for fairly long time).
It is not voltage because if our body is at the same
potential then there will not be any damage. But if it is
potential diffence then it causes current flow through our
body and cause are disintegration of the organic molecoles
of our body.
