When i went to a interview the interviewer ask me a
question for that i cant able to answer him if anyone knows
answer me
How will you design a capacitor bank for a plant? if my p.f
is 0.6 i have to improve it to 0.9 or 1 what kind of steps i
have to do? and is there any formula for calculating this?

You must add a capacitor bank. you can determine the size
of the capacitor to be added using the following formula.
KVAR = KW*Tan((arccos0.6) -(Arccos0.9))

to improve powerfactor only capacitor banks should be used
but not inductor as capacitor having leading pf which wil
reduces reactive power and improves pf

if we are talking for 0.6 pf laging to 1 pf then we require
a capacitor bank.
the rating of the bank will be=v*i*sin(angle) in vars
angle=cosinverse(0.6).
if we are talking for 0.6 pf leading to 1 pf then we require
a inductor bank.
the rating of the bank will be=v*i*sin(angle) in vars
angle=cosinverse(0.6).
v=supply line voltage.
i=line current.

just calculate total load of plant,,, then use capacitor 30
percent rating of total load,,, example if you have hunderd
ampere load then use 30Kvar capacitor,,,

If you want improve your power factor, you should provide a
capacitor bank.The rating of the bank is 1/3 rd of the
transformer ratings.

75kw drive operated motor current fluctuation from(85-130)ampere.current setting in drive is 130amp.sometimes motor trip when current limit cross 130amps.I change the drive. still current fluctuate between 80-130amps but in this time motor not trip,current setting in drive is 130amps.where is the problem?
