why not use capacitor in Dg sets...

Answer / raj

No, we can add capacitor till pf=0.95 it will reduce the
line current so the losses and heating but it should not go
to leading side and if dg set running in parallel then pf
should be kept 0.9 so that stability and load sharing
should be proper.even i have used capacitors in dg so many
times successfully without trouble.

why not use capacitor in Dg sets...

Answer / meeran

the DG Designed constant power factor .8 no need capacitor
output load always constant if we add capacitor it will we
additional load and it will not use for power factor
improvement.

why not use capacitor in Dg sets...

Answer / parminder singh

The generator for d.g set is designed at 0.8 power factor.
our load is always between 0.8 - 1.0 p.f. so if we connect
capacitor it will overload the dg set.

why not use capacitor in Dg sets...

Answer / ajit

capacitor is not use in dg sets because in dg sets power
factor already disign by manufacturer acording to your
requarment or type of electrical load.mostely dg sets
desion on .8 powr factor

why not use capacitor in Dg sets...

Answer / mahendran

normally d/g working time we monitoring ammeter only. we add
the capacitor the pf is increased and amps will become less.
so at this times we closely check the kw meter only this
will not increase to rated kw.
