why cu losses called cu losses.

Copper loss is the term often given to heat produced by
electrical currents in the conductors of transformer
windings, or other electrical devices.Since most of the
windings we see in practical application are of
copper, copper losses or winding losses are called copper losses.

"Copper losses" is just a synonym for the "Load Losses" or
losses due to the flow of load current, predominantly the
I-squared-R losses in the (usually copper) windings. This
differentiates from the "No Load Losses", also known as
"Iron Losses" which are predominantly the hysteresis losses
from magnetizing the (iron) core.

Copper loss is the term often given to heat produced by
electrical currents in the conductors of transformer
windings, or other electrical devices. Copper losses are an
undesirable transfer of energy, as are core losses, which
result from induced currents in adjacent components. The
term is applied regardless of whether the windings are made
of copper or another conductor, such as aluminium. Hence
Copper loss is also called as winding loss.

it is of 2 types:-
(1)Stator field loss <I2s*Rs>
(2)rotor field loss<I2r*Rr>
since this type of loss is occures ONLY in field winding
,wound rotor(armature).Both r made from Cu wires/winding (I2R
LOSSES)

because generally we use copper winding ...so there is some reistence ...in copper as well or we cn ssy resistive loss.....so the ....losses due to reistence in copper wining so we cn sy it copper loss
