What happens to an electric motor if it has poor or no
ventilation. Will it burn out? If it will, how long it
will run before it burn out?

Answer / ullas k prabhu
Some times the motor may continue to rotate with lots of
heat dissipation or the motor windings might be suddenly
burnt which mainly depends on the class of insulators
used.... It also depends on the heating and cooling time
constants...

for any m/c since current passes through the armature heat
is devolped due to resistence so it is to be cooled through
ventilation to provide long life to the conductor

This actually is hard to answer because the heat generated
may not actually be surpassing the thermal capacity of the
motor to disapate heat even unvented. If the motor is
producing excess heat which surpasses the operating
specifications of the motor design then it will reduce its
lifespan and fail. It also could be producing excess or
reduced windage (air resistance) reducing the effectiveness
of the motor.

Surely it will burn out. After poor ventilation burning time
depends upon load on motor, surround atmosphere of motor and
motor life.

for running motor cooling air fan at non drive end side is
important because the motor winding temperature is
increases. if cooling fails the motor temperature increses
and sometime depends on the load the motor will burnt out.
