its main function is switching operations in electrical
ckts.they r used to de-energize equipment to allow work to
be done and also to clear faults downstream.

in switch gear not all provisions but few are provided as a switch yard like.....
switching ,protections and power factor improvement with circuit breakers,relays,mccb's, contactors,capacitors and fuse units
as switch gear system is panel based system so has some limitations and other than that mainly used for meter displays purpose like V,I,p.f,kwh,frequency etc....

switch gair is used for switching operation like if any faults occurs the related equipment may damage to avoid that here we are using switching components like MCCB,FUSES,CIRCUITBREKERS,RCCB etc so with out switching devices there is no electrical system

in the directional overcurrent and earthfault protection,normally we are setting the angle 45 deg lead for phase fault overcurrent and -45 deg lead for earthfault fro forward direction.but both the fault are operating on the same angle region only.why?how the relay will response?
