Concrete Mix Design is the name of procedure...it can be performed by BIS or ASTM standerds.
things to be known/assumed:-
1.compressive strength of 28days
2.maximum size and type of aggegate
3.degree of qulity of controll, workability and
4. type of exposure/type of cement etc
procedure:-
1. find target mean strength-by Ft=Fck+1.65*s(s-std deviation ,varries w.r.t grade of conc.)
2. water cement ratio- this find with the help of a graph W/C ratio Vs Fck.approximate air contant s found by another table wrt aggre gates s max size.(genrally-0.6to .35)
3.find workabiliti den multiply by 0.8follow a table to find zone nd % of sand .
4.now cement ,voids sand water are known along with total aggregate then finally using a specific formula given in BIS course and fine aggregates r also estimated.
