Air Blast CB. High restriking voltage appears across the
contacts because of current chopping. If these voltages are
not allowed to discharge, they may cause break down of
insulation of the circuit breaker or the neighboring
equipment.

ABCB.......during current chopping, capacitive current breaking.......high transient voltages r produced......resistance switching avoids dis by connecting a shunt resistance across d cb contacts.......

Answer / nikhil sharma
oil filled circuit breakers use resistor switching to
balance the voltage distribution amongst the contacts of
circuit breaker and to reduce the transient overvoltages
produced during arc inhibition process...

b)Air blast c.b in that we reduce the re-striking voltage b\w the moving contact and fixed contact by using the resistance and allows the current though reverse leakage current will be avoided only we resistance used in air blast c.b other than we can't use in oil r gas..
