Because sea water contains salt and it may cause the erosion
of iron.Desalination will prove to be costly

you cant genarate energy from any type of water (sea, ground
or river)the PE and KE are converted to energy.Electricty
is even genarated by using sea water in tidal energy
stations so the question itself is not correct. In some
thermal power stations (floating) using sea water as a
cooling agent

Wer is correct. Currently Connecticut in U.S.A. is using a
minor power generator in the kW range. Whereas South Korea
has implemented the largest sea water plant on earth
surpassing France's tidal generator. both operate in the
MW range. Maybe it was a trick question. Hope so because
otherwise it was a foolish question.

If the government focuses on this , it is possible to use the sea water for producing electricity. Of-course , it is costly but it is one time investment. We are very advanced in technology in producing Anti-Corrosive materials and digging canals from sea which helps in production of electricity. So , utilizing the technology in correct way will fix this problem. It may be difficult but not impossible. If this is implemented then we will never have shortage of electricity in future.

the concentration of salt water is high. but conductivity of
other waters which have less salts are high. so we can use
water which has less amount of salts for electricity
production.

The only nearly inexhaustible sources of water are the
oceans, which however are of high salinity. It would be
feasible to address the water-shortage problem with
seawater desalination; however, the separation of salts
from seawater requires significant amounts of energy which,
when produced from fossil fuels, can cause harm to the
environment.

we can produce electricity from sea water also .in dams the
water is in height when it falls it releases energy.if sea
water is also at some feet above the ground level we can
produce electricity. now itself from tides of wavw we can
produce electricity.
