grounding & earthing are different.
GROUNDING:If the live point (current carrying part)of the
system is earthed ,it is called as grounding.
EX: In star connected system, the neutral point is
grounded.
EARTHING:If the non-live point(other than current carrying
part )of the system is earthed,it is called as earthing.
EX:Earthing of outer frame of the electrical machine.

Difference bet grounding and earthing are one of the most confused and misunderstood concept. there is difference bet earthing and grounding.
GROUNDING:-In grounding ckt of machines are grounding to provide an effective return path from the machine to the power source. ex:-Neutral point of star connected motor.
EARTHING:-Earthing is said to have accomplished through bounding of metallic system to earth. It is normally achieved by inserting grounding rod or other electrode deep inside the earth. The purpose of earthing is to minimize risk of receiving an electric shock if touching metal part to the body when a fault is present.

grounding and earthing are almost similar terms the
difference is as followes
Grounding:if the current carrying part of the system is
earthed it is called grounding i.e it is done for the
protectoion of power sytstem equipment for example grounding
of neutral point of a star connected transformer.
Earthing:If the non current carrying part of the system is
earthed it is called as earthing i.e it is done for the home
appliances such as computer refrigerator etc...

As per IS 3043-1987, vide Cl. 0.7, the terms
‘earthing’ and ‘grounding’ are synonymous.
Perhaps the different nomenclature is due to the
usual conflicting usage of English language
between the Americans & the British. While the
British termed it as ‘earthing’, the Americans
termed it as ‘grounding’. IEC & IS Standards refer
as ‘earthing’, while IEEE & ANSI Standards refer as
'grounding'

Friends, there's no difference between earthing and
grounding.but difference is there grounding and neutral.Ground is the zero potential it gives the low resistive path to the fault current like that high voltage equipment transformer protection.Earthing is making for same protection but low voltage equipments. neutral have the some potential not zero.

Grounding & Earthing are synonyms, provides a low impedance
path to nearest earthing grid or electrode for fault
current. It is used for equipment, structures, veseels,
tanks, substation in&out, any metallic structure which is
on grade to protect it from all kind of surge current.

Friends, there's no difference between earthing and
grounding. We follow British english so we usually use
earting.Grounding is used in America.Grounding is an
equivalent word for earthing in US.So never get confuse,we
are free to use what we like.
