power means
voltage*current
power t/f(1-phase,3-phase)is designed to change amplitude
of high frequency pulses by the turns ratio and provide
isolation b/wcircuits
distribution transformer is used to change the voltage
levels ex:high to low&low to high
(step up t/f&step down t?f)

Power transformers are used for transmission as a step up
devices so that the I2r loss can be minimized for a given
power flow. These transformers are designed to utilize the
core to maximum and will operate very much near to the knee
point of B-H curve(slightly above the knee point value). This
brings down the mass of the core enormously.Naturally these
transformers have the matched iron losses and copper losses
at peak load (i.e the maximum efficiency point where both
the losses match).
Distribution transformers obviously cannot be designed like
this.Hence the all-day-efficiency comes into picture while
designing it.It depends on the typical load cycle for which
it has to supply.Definitely Core design will be done to take
care of peak load and as well as all-day-efficiency.It is a
bargain between these two points.

in short we can say that power trans belongs to the voltae
ratings above the 33kv and distribution trans are for low
voltages.....
it is also right that the size of the power trans is much-
much bigger then the distribution trans, that is all bcoz
of the rating and the operating voltage.........

Power transformer is used with Current transformer.
There is only one power transformer at generating station only, but many current transformers.
This is to check faults and measurement purpose.
where as distribution transformer are every where for efficient power transfer.

Powr transformer are used in transmission network to step
up/down voltage viz 440/220KV, 220/110 KV,33/11 KV and
generaly of capacity 1 MVA or more.
Distibution transformer as name implies are used in
distribution network and steps down voltage to.433 KV &
normally of capacity less than 1 MVA viz 11/.433
KV,33/.433KV

why ht motor connection in star
Sir,In our company there are 3 caterpillar make(capacity:(1) 3.3KV,2.5MW(2)3.3KV,2.5MW & (3)3.3KV,1.9MW) & 1 deutz make (capacity:11KV,3.8MW)gas engines utilised, all are running in paralell. There are three transformer utilised,(1) 6.25MVA,3.3KV/22KV,Impedence voltage:6.7% used for two generator, both are 2.5MW(2)5.5MVA,3.3KV/22KV,Impedence voltage:7.2% used for one generator of 2.5MW & (3) 5.5MVA,11KV/22KV,Impedence voltage:7.8% used for one generator of 2.5MW.all generator breakers capacity of 1250Amps. Sir,I want the details of fault level calculation of generator, transformer individually & for whole system. If you require any information from me.feel free for contact me sir.pl.send the answer of my question as the earliest as possible.
