1. Check the system (if u have any dedicated application
server for background jobs check the particular application
server Status and response time and os logs) response time.
2. If there is no enough background process to execute that
background job increases the background process if u have
enough background process then check the network speed and
network response

First of all check whether the job has ran previously ,
check the history of that job. If it is taking more time
than the previous try checking the background work
processes, check the load and generation time, check the
buffers and increase it accordingly.

should cancel job by making use of T Code "SMX" and can
schedule job at different interval of time.

the reason for ths is its quote possible that the resource
is not free or the sever is going through more work load.
it is quite possible that if for example a same table been
read out simultanuesly.
