If the supply voltage is same (say 440V) whether a system
designed for 60 Hz frequency will work with 50 Hz frequency
or not , if so pl. give clarification.

If the supply voltage is same (say 440V) whether a system designed for 60 Hz frequency will work w..

Answer / joysbag@gmail.com

E=4.44(freq.)x(fluux density).

if E is constant - freq is inversly proportional to Flus
density.

Hence with 10% decrease in freq the flux density will
increase by 10% which may bring the transformer at
saturation. Hence it may work but not advisable.

If the supply voltage is same (say 440V) whether a system designed for 60 Hz frequency will work w..

Answer / shahin

Dear all I've seen that all r telling dc motor, ac motor,
converter etc. ABB has asked for a system not for motor/
inverter. As the equaiton of joysbag reduction of frequency
of 10% will cause increment of 16.67% of flux. Though the
system is designed about 60Hz. Then the system component
may be malfunctioning. All of equipments of the system must
be changed as frequency has changed.....

If the supply voltage is same (say 440V) whether a system designed for 60 Hz frequency will work w..

Answer / sanjeev kumar

yes system will work with unproper way but the system are
designed as per basic parametre like frequency, voltage,
current,. if we changed the parametre system work with
abnormal way.

If the supply voltage is same (say 440V) whether a system designed for 60 Hz frequency will work w..

Answer / maheswaran

iron losses such as hysteresis and eddy current losses are
proportional to the frequency of the supply.. so the
frequency increases,obviously losses will increase

If the supply voltage is same (say 440V) whether a system designed for 60 Hz frequency will work w..

Answer / rameshpaulaian

Its work both 50Hz and 60Hz , but the output is diff from
each.
Ex: Fan, Speed of fan at 60Hz< Speed of Fan at 50Hz.

If the supply voltage is same (say 440V) whether a system designed for 60 Hz frequency will work w..

Answer / glen saldanha

definately the electronic appliance such a tv will not work
as the calculation of capacitor and inductor rating is
based on 50hz changing the frequnecy to 60 hz will change
the valve and the electronic appliance will behave abnormal

If the supply voltage is same (say 440V) whether a system designed for 60 Hz frequency will work w..

Answer / naveen

it depends on the application, each eqipment is allowed for
some variation in the parametr. For Ex in case of induction
motor upto 5% variation is allowed in the frequency. So the
behavior of system depends on how much sensitive to that
parameter.

If the supply voltage is same (say 440V) whether a system designed for 60 Hz frequency will work w..

Answer / tarun aggarwal ymca

actually certain equipment work on the frequency of power
supply such as oscillators or frequency changer used to
trigger the ckt . since frequency has been changed the
resulatnt triggering angle get chandged which offer un
predictable result .
while if a d.c motor is given 50 Hz it commutation process
is designed in such a way that is frequency increase it will
led to short circuiting
