cONSTRUCTION JOINT IS A JOINT WHICH IS PROVIDED TO CONTINUE
THE CONCRETING WHEN IT CAN NOT BE COMPLETED BY SPECIFIED
TIME.
THE CONCRETE EXPANDS & CONTRACTS DUE TO THE TEMPERATURE.

(From wikie)
An expansion joint is an assembly designed to safely absorb
the heat-induced expansion and contraction of various
construction materials, to absorb vibration, or to allow
movement due to ground settlement or earthquakes. They are
commonly found between sections of sidewalks, bridges,
railway tracks, piping systems, and other structures.
Throughout the year, building faces, concrete slabs, and
pipelines will expand and contract due to the warming and
cooling through seasonal variation, or due to other heat
sources. Before expansion joint gaps were built into these
structures, they would crack under the stress induced.
The expansion joint can be as simple as a caulked
separation between two sections of the same materials. More
recently, expansion joints have been included in the design
of, or added to existing, brick exterior veneer walls for
similar purposes. In concrete and concrete block ("CMU")
construction, the term applied is control joint, but serves
a similar purpose.
Construction Joints
Construction joints (figures 7-36,7-37,7-38, and 7-39) are
made where the concrete placement operations end for the
day or where one structural element is cast against
previously placed concrete. These joints allow some load to
be transferred from one structural element to another
through the use of keys or (for some slabs and pavement)
dowels. Note that the construction joint extends entirely
through the concrete element.(

consrtuction joint defined as to avoid the non homoginity
in concrete pavement, so for proper bonding between the
concrete constructionjjoint has provided.

construction joint: provided where last concreting is done
and we have to continue further from there, hence to avoide
unhomogeniety in material construction joints are provided.
Expansion joint:provided to avoide developements of cracks
due to tempreture stresses. these are top to bottom or
partly saw cutted.

The concrete expands with a rise in temperature and
contracts with a decrease in temperature. To account these
effects dowel bars are used at regular intervals as
construction joints.

Answer / anvi
Construction Joint is formed when the concreting surface
area is divided in to Pores i.e. where bending moment is
zero. construction joints can be laid only at the area where
Bending moment is Zero.
Expansion joints are provided to the building which are
morethan 47mt length as per IS Standards. they are provided
in order to withstand against expansisons, natural forces.

In cc pavemement construction joints are provided whenever
concrete is suspended for more than 30 minutes.excepting in
the case of emergency ,construction joints shall be
suspended at the regular interval of contraction and
expansion joint. expansion joints are provided to expand
concrete in summer season and thus relieving compressive
stresses due to expansion and inhibiting any tendency
towards buckling of concrete slabs.

Construction joint is the joint provided without
interlocking two different designed structures having
different properties in terms of cc, rcc, pre-cast, various
grades, design etc. Different ratio of expansion &
contraction between two different structures has to be
neutralized to avoid any damage in structure.
Expansion Joint is especially provided to maintain the
changes in the dimension of the concrete mass due to the
effect of temperature on construction material like steel,
cement, aggregates and any material or object is in
conjuction with. Also entire part is not affected by any
settlement of base or related strucures.
