CONSIDER A 415V/200V STEP DOWN TRANSFORMER.CAN WE USE USE IT AS STEP UP TRANSFORMER BY GIVING 200..

Answer / premgin

See transformer mainly used for step up purpose are of the
detal-star connection, the advantage is that in the seconary
for step up the insulation req is lessa s the voltage is
57.7 of actual vaue in secondary. So consdier ur question
now? is it advantageous.Transformer designs are done not
merely on load,but the winding
insulation,oil,insulation,cooling,etc are also important.

CONSIDER A 415V/200V STEP DOWN TRANSFORMER.CAN WE USE USE IT AS STEP UP TRANSFORMER BY GIVING 200..

Answer / ashokreddyreguri

The given t/f is 415 v/200 v(h.v/l.v).
If the supply is given to 415 v side and o/p is taken from
200v side then it is step down t/f.
If the supply is given to 200 v side and o/p is taken from
415 v side then it is step up t/f.
We can use the same t/f tor step up and step down operations

CONSIDER A 415V/200V STEP DOWN TRANSFORMER.CAN WE USE USE IT AS STEP UP TRANSFORMER BY GIVING 200..

Answer / sabale.dnyaneshwar@gmail.com

again it is depend upon type of your winding.
practically it is possibble.
also agree with 9th ans. & 13th ans.

CONSIDER A 415V/200V STEP DOWN TRANSFORMER.CAN WE USE USE IT AS STEP UP TRANSFORMER BY GIVING 200..

Answer / nazheer

the process of applying voltage from secondary to primary is
know as back charging.... yes. it can be used as a step up
transformers........ in power plants GT will be tested
through back charging........

CONSIDER A 415V/200V STEP DOWN TRANSFORMER.CAN WE USE USE IT AS STEP UP TRANSFORMER BY GIVING 200..

Answer / student

For the same KVA rating we can use the transformer with
corresponding increase or decrease in the voltage and load
current.Eventhough theoretically it is possible no
manufacturers prefer because of the practical difficulties
as explained in Ans # 2 and 3.

So combining Ans # 2,3 and 9 we can say its not practically
advisable to use the transformers in such a way.

Answer / krishna kishore

Hello all,

That really a good discussion what about the vector
displacement. Whether it has to be taken into account or
not.

CONSIDER A 415V/200V STEP DOWN TRANSFORMER.CAN WE USE USE IT AS STEP UP TRANSFORMER BY GIVING 200..

Answer / m.vishwanath

this method can be followed only for testing of transformer
without any doubt but practically cannot be as explained in
ans 2

CONSIDER A 415V/200V STEP DOWN TRANSFORMER.CAN WE USE USE IT AS STEP UP TRANSFORMER BY GIVING 200..

Answer / padmanabh thakur

in previous answer I mistyped that dielectric strength is
depend on pd sorry for that, actually rapturing of insulator
is depend on Pd.insulation used in low tension side is small
dielectric stength and this insulation will break down when
we will used high pd across low tension side
but in theory point of view we can used

CONSIDER A 415V/200V STEP DOWN TRANSFORMER.CAN WE USE USE IT AS STEP UP TRANSFORMER BY GIVING 200..

Answer / padmanabh thakur

Actually when transformer is manufactured winding
insulation have major role. That is the number of
turn,insulation strength
and many other factor does remain same in both
winding.dielectric strength mainly depend upon
voltage(p.d).As potential difference is increased
,electrostatic stress on insulator is increase and at
certain voltage insulation rapture.Dielectrc strength of
insulator used in high tension side is high compare to low
tension side.
When low tension side of transformer is connected with high
voltage then there is chance of insulation failure.Because
dielectrc strength of low tension side is small as compare
to high tension side.
Theoretically it is possible.

CONSIDER A 415V/200V STEP DOWN TRANSFORMER.CAN WE USE USE IT AS STEP UP TRANSFORMER BY GIVING 200..

Answer / vinothbhabu.k

its not possible, the while designing the the transformer we
should calculate the capacity of load, according to the
load the insulation level oil level be designed,so its not
possible one..

generally in LT and MV motors we are using 3.5Coresx16,25,35,50 etc cable for supply.although motors is earthed at two point and having all protection.then why we are using that 1/2 core for earthing the motors.while in HT cable we are using only 3core cable for motor supply.generally lt and mv motors are delta connected and ht motors having star connection.whethere it is having any relation with winding connection( star or delta).all motors i am talking about are dol only.can anybody solve my confusion.thanks...
