what is the difference between ACTIVE POWER and REACTIVE POWER.I WANT CLEAR ANSEWER...

Answer / rajeev ranjan

ACTIVE POWER-THIS IS THE ACTUAL POWER RATED IN (MW).BUT AS
FAR AS REACTIVE POWER IS CONCERNED, IT IS THE POWER RATED
IN MVAR WHICH IS NECESSARY FOR EXPORTING THE GENERATED
ACTIVE POWER IN MW.

what is the difference between ACTIVE POWER and REACTIVE POWER.I WANT CLEAR ANSEWER...

Answer / kumaresan.g

Active Power Means actually to deliver the ac machine
( ie., It is generating power). [Power in MW (P=VI)].

Reactive power Means the load utilize the actual power it
is the reactive power. Power in mva [P=VI Cos(Theta)]

what is the difference between ACTIVE POWER and REACTIVE POWER.I WANT CLEAR ANSEWER...

Answer / gms

CLEAR ANSWER 4U=
POWER SUPPLIED BY EXT. SOURCE IS CONSUMED IN 2 PARTS
1-ACTIVE POWER-which actually does the useful work in the machine.
2-REACTIVE POWER-which the system needs to overcome the losses in the machine.
POWER SUPPLIED=WORK DONE BY MACHINE(ACTIVE POWER) + LOSSES(REACTIVE POWER)

what is the difference between ACTIVE POWER and REACTIVE POWER.I WANT CLEAR ANSEWER...

Answer / mukund

active power is the actual power which is used to drive any
electrical machine.
while reactive power is the power created as a result of
hormonic distortion of active power which moves to and fro
over the system until any compensation is made to it

what is the difference between ACTIVE POWER and REACTIVE POWER.I WANT CLEAR ANSEWER...

Answer / suseendran

The power required to run a pump using a motor is active or
real power(KW).

The inductive nature of the motor windings will impose a
power whose current flow direction will be, for one half
cycle it flows from supply to motor and in the next half
cycle it flows from motor to the supply. Hence it is called
circulating current. It just flow TO and FRO between the
supply point and the motor. The power of this circulating
current is called as reactive power(KVAR).

Also this is the reason why electricity board charge us for
KW power and not for KVAR power.

what is the difference between ACTIVE POWER and REACTIVE POWER.I WANT CLEAR ANSEWER...

Answer / a .n.thakur

Understsnding of active power and reactive power is very
much related to our life. What we eat gives power to us is
acive power but power required to our mind to do a job is a
reactive power. In a Generator steam input gives activce
power whearas excitation of field winding provides reactive
power.Like human being if generator is self excited then it
should generate reactive power to compansate for its airgap
as wellas for its connected load.

what is the difference between ACTIVE POWER and REACTIVE POWER.I WANT CLEAR ANSEWER...

Answer / sara

P=VI real power, complex power in mw
s=VI cos(theta) reactive power in kVA
q=VI sin(theta) apparent power,imaginary power in kVAR

what is the difference between ACTIVE POWER and REACTIVE POWER.I WANT CLEAR ANSEWER...

Answer / thilaknpti

Active power is the power work done in the machine.ie P = VI
this is active power. Reactive power is the power that
delivered from the machine that is opposite to the active
power. this is P=VI cos(theta). this is a imaginary power.
this reactive power only created in ac machines. it is the
angle between the voltae and current. it also named as power
factor.

Is This Answer Correct ?    4 Yes 16 No
